We got a call from John a couple of months ago, and he wanted an extreme update to his 2-door JK. After a consultation with him, we figured we had enough information to put together an awesome build that would allow the Jeep to handle anything from Oregon’s I-5 to California’s Johnson Valley.

A plan was set, and the Jeep was delivered. Bob, Ben, and Jason took over from there. The Jeep was gutted from the frame down, and the slow process of rebuilding began.
It might not seem like one of the biggest builds, but with such a unique suspension design, geometry and handling was very important. Several days were dedicated to the process of figuring the major suspension areas – including virtual reaction point, roll center, center of gravity, and up/down travel.

Bob’s fabrication skills were put to work with over 160 hours of detailed effort. The Jeep doesn’t look like it has that much into it, and that is precisely the point – it is a sleeper. The 37″ BFG tires, and the Walker Beadlock wheels are the only hint of the true machine that lies beneath the steel blue shell.

Once the 5.7L Hemi engine is fired up and the Jeep is put in gear, you know that this is not any ordinary 2 door. A quick blip of the throttle and you are set back in your seat, the Fox Coilovers soak up everything in your path, and the SpeedBump bumpstops and swaybars keep all four tires on the tarmac. Once off-road, the Jeep settles in to it’s real duties and starts looking for the biggest obstacles it can find. Truth be told, we didn’t have too much time behind the wheel before John took it off our hands to go thrash it on a 3-week Colorado trip. From all reports, this project was a huge success – and Bob can now catch up on some well needed sleep!

It was hard to find a good starting point since there’s so much that’s gone into this JK. First off, let’s look underneath! Dennis has a complete 6″ Elite LCG Suspension system, equipped with an HD drag link flip kit. The Elite LCG System is the premier suspension kit for the JK Wrangler. The long arms and low center of gravity provide for smooth on-road travel while maximizing off-road capabilities on the trail.

Additional add-ons to the suspension kit include Fox Shocks, and an S/T swaybar (which is soon to be upgaded to a Dual Rate JK specific swaybar!) The new TeraFlex Speedbump Bumpstops were the most recent addition to the Jeep, giving it even better performance in rocky situations.

Dennis’ Jeep is equipped with prototype front and rear CRD60 axles specialized for the JK. Lockers are another important part of any off-road vehicle. This Jeep is equipped with ARB front and Eaton rear lockers with 5:13 gears, as well as a standard 4:1 Rubicon Transfer case.

Moving out and mounted on the CRD60’s are 40″x13.5×17 MT/R Kevlar Tires. These beasts have extremely reinforced sidewalls that makes them virtually impenetrable, not to mention provides excellent traction, perfect for the rocky, jagged trails of the Moab desert, as well as the mud-filled, back country trails in the Rocky’s Dennis usually finds himself on.

The Kevlars are mounted on Allied beadlock Monster rims with custom-painted rings to match the paint job…did we mention is was green? All in all this wheel set-up let’s Dennis powerhouse over any obstacle that he finds himself in front of.

Underneath the hood you’ll find a 5.7L Hemi with a 6.1L cam. Ask Dennis and he’ll tell you it’s a little bit more powerful than the standard V6. (With a hint of sarcasm of course…) Still under the hood is a Viair on board air compressor which powers the lockers and provides for an easy fill-up after the trail is over.

Outside sits a color-matched TeraFlex front bumper with a Warn TI winch and synthetic rope. A color-matched rear bumper and tire carrier, as well as rockguard sliders finish up the exterior features of the JK. Inside Dennis’ rig sits an awesome MyGig navigation system and of course, TeraFlex grab handles.

Riding on top of a 4″ LCG Elite Long Arm Suspension System gives this JK great clearance. Also installed are Front and rear Driveline Kits which provide the extra durability for off roading as well as the comfort of daily driving. The TeraFlex Steering Stabilizer adds needed support for the stress of intense rock climbing, perfect for blazing through the trails and back country of Moab.

What about the gearing, you ask? Doug has Front and Rear Dana 44’s, with 4.88 Ratios. This heavy duty gearing keeps his Jeep powering forward, even on the steepest of inclines…

If you want a well balanced Jeep you’ll not only have high performance after-market parts installed underneath, but also some flashy cosmetic features on the outside. The PortalRV Jeep has both. Front and Rear Rockguard bumpers with a Rockguard Tire Carrier on back add a more rugged look to his JK. The custom paint job adds a finishing touch as you see the TeraFlex logo fly by when Doug races down another Moab trail.

We thought his jeep looked pretty sweet so we took some quick shots and jotted down a few of the specs to show to our fellow Jeep enthusiasts…we think you’ll enjoy it as much as we did…

On top of the bling (for lack of a better word) paint job, Jeff has some excellent additions to his 2008 Rubi. Underneath, the JK sports a 4″ LCG Elite Suspension system. With the clearance this suspension offers, Jeff can take his silver beauty pretty much anywhere.

The cosmetic features on the Jeep really add to the overall look as well as help the performance in off-road conditions. Jeff is sporting JK RockGuard Front and Rear bumpers, equipped with a RockGuard Spare Tire Carrier. Along the sides are JK 4-Door RockGuard Rocksliders, perfect for protecting the JK’s body. As we said before, the bumpers and the sliders were custom painted to match the silver body, and we think it adds a great finish to an awesome vehicle!

The stock suspension was upgraded to a 4″ Elite LCG Long Arm system. Also added on was a Heavy Duty Steering Stabilizer for extra control. The front and rear differentials were upgraded to new 5.38 gears and matching TeraFlex Diff Covers.

For tires Brad had 37″ Goodyear Kevlars installed and mounted them onto Balistic Hostel wheels. He replaced the stock bumpers with a Front Rockguard bumper and rear JK Trail Series bumper with a tire carrier. Mounted up front was a Warn 9.5ti winch with a 3/8″ 100ft. synthetic winch rope and a custom made TeraFlex aluminum fairlead. All of these not only added to the saftey and control of the vehicle, they also made it look pretty sweet!

Equipped with all of these fun extras, Brad probably figured he was pretty much invincible…little did he know that he was in for quite a ride! Soon after having all this work done, Brad was riding on a trail and decided to stop a little too close to the edge of a cliff…to make a short story a little shorter, both Brad and the JK ended up sitting in the middle of a stream at the bottom of the cliff (luckily back on the wheels). As you can imagine the Jeep suffered a few ‘cosmetic’ injuries.

Thankfully, the Jeep was able to be repaired and Brad is still around to tell everyone the story.  After the roll, the Jeep was upgraded with a custom color-matched roof to replace the stock black one, last we heard Brad was back on the road and feeling better than ever!

We went over everything that he liked, didn’t like, and what he really wanted and then took it from there. First things first – get rid of the ‘new’ under-performing lift kit, and get a brand new TeraFlex Elite LCG 6″ long arm system, front and rear TeraFlex RockGuard bumpers. After that things got real crazy – the body came off, the torch and welder came out and a new zero mile 5.7L Hemi engine was installed.

With the body back on things started coming together nicely. TeraFlex RockGuard rock sliders, AEV hood, Warn 9.5 Ti winch, synthetic winch line all completed the build. Precision Bodyline custom matched the hood and hardtop for that OEM look. Custom Super Bee graphics finished things up nicely.

Steve says the only downside to this whole Jeep build has been the amount of attention that he gets while driving and trying to park. People stop him everywhere to chat about it! This by far is one bee you can’t miss!

Starting out, Jeff’s TJ was suped-up with a 5.7 Liter Hemi conversion and a 545RFE double overdrive 5 speed A/T.  As you can imagine it goes a little bit faster than it did stock.

Underneath, the Jeep sits on top of a 4″TeraFlex PRO LCG lift supported by both front and rear TeraFlex CRD60 Axles, equipped with Air lockers.  Also included in the package is a TeraFlex High Steer Kit, TeraFlex 975 Front Sway Bar, and TeraFlex 965 HD Rear Swaybar…talk about great handling!

Sporting 37″ Goodyear MT/R Tires mounted on 17″ Rims, this unlimited is ready for some intense mud-sliding, rock-climbing, heart-pounding offroading adventures.

Exterior features also include TeraFlex front and rear RockGuard bumpers, color-matched Warn 7″ Flairs and a custom louvered hood.

Underneath the hood lies a 6.1 Liter Hemi engine.  It provides for one intense ride and pumps out the power needed to conquer almost any obstacle.

Moving down the drivetrain Dave’s JK is supported by front and rear TeraFlex CRD 60R’s at 5.13:1.  The CRD60R provides high clearance for the trail, and has reinforced bearing caps for added strength. Constant Radius Design provides the axle with high ground clearance that is unaffected by pinion angle adjustments.  Both axles are controlled by front and rear ARB lockers while the power is channeled from the engine by an Atlas Transfer case through HD driveshafts to deliver maximum torque and handling.

The Wrangler is supported by a 6″ LCG Elite suspension system; Bilstein shocks, a PSC hydro assist kit and a custom made front TeraFlex Dual Rate Swaybar…the only one in existence on a JK.

Riding on beefy 39.5″ Pitbull Rockers mounted onto Cruiser Alloy Wheels, Dave’s JK isn’t playing around when it comes to serious off-highway handling!

The exterior of the Jeep is loaded with some sweet additions.  Starting in the front the JK sports a Warn Power Plant with a TeraFlex Aluminum Fairlead, all mounted onto a TeraFlex front bumper.  TeraFlex sliders give the underbody extra protection from rough, rocky terrain while Xenon flares and a TeraFlex mud flap kit protect the rest of the rig from unwanted debris.  Bringing up the rear is another TeraFlex bumper with a tire carrier and a CB Antenna Mount.  All of that is topped off by a custom color matched painted hardtop with a Garvin Roof Rack equipped with 6 Piaa lights.

Moving into the interior Dave made sure to spare no expense by fitting it with an Alpine Navigation System, Daystar Upper Dash Panel with a Mopar Dash Accent Overlay.  Custom two-tone seats, TeraFlex grab handles and Mopar floor mats provide the interior with a comfortable, stylish feel.

Now that’s one long list of additions to a Jeep that was once rotting on the bottom of a lake, and there’s more to come.  We want to thank Dave for allowing us to play around with and deck out a totally awesome JK!  Check back soon to see what else is happening with our customer build-ups…

Now, the Rubi may look all nice and pretty, but don’t let the appearance fool you!  Underneath the front bumper Brent made sure to have us install a TeraFlex Dual Rate S/T Swaybar.  Along with his TeraFlex Pro LCG 4″ Lift, aluminum tie rod and drag link, and superior axle shafts this Rubi is ready for the trails.  Needless to say next time we see this Jeep we hope he’s dirtied it up a bit.

Lastly, and probably the coolest thing we got the chance to install, were the wheels and tires.  Brent chose to put on brand new 37″ Goodyear Kevlar MTR’s!  These babies have super- reinforced sidewalls lined with Kevlar to provide extreme durability in rough terrain.  To add icing on the cake they were mounted onto 17″ x 9-1/2″ Allied Monsters.  All that makes for one sweet ride!
